ALGIERS – The public group of land transport of goods and logistics (LOGITRANS) is working to strongly support the efforts of the public authorities to boost non-hydrocarbon exports through a series of measures aimed at supporting exporting operators to African markets , said Wednesday, the CEO of the Group, Boualem Kini.

In anticipation of the entry into force of the African Continental Free Trade Area (ZLECAF), the LOGITRANS Group has put in place, at the start of the current year, all the human and material resources to achieve the objectives set. by the country’s top export authorities

Mr. Kini said in an interview with APS.

In this context, he cited the creation of an antenna specializing in international transport responsible for supporting economic operators in the transport of their goods to the various African countries, in particular neighboring countries “.

It also involves, adds the CEO of the Group, the development of transit zones dedicated to exports in Tindouf and Tamanrasset comprising transport centers and warehouses under the control of the Customs services, in order to facilitate the export process and contribute to the revitalization of commercial activities in border areas but also to create jobs “.

The Group plans to receive the Tamanrasset logistics platform (16 hectares) during the fourth quarter of 2021 and the Tindouf transit zone (8 hectares) at the start of the first quarter of 2022.

In 2020, the LOGITRANS Group fleet was reinforced by the acquisition of 250 new semi-trailers to transport goods to various African countries, which will be added to its fleet of nearly 3,500 trucks carrying more than 15 million tons / year of goods on a route of 126 million km.

In 2019, the group organized more than 64 caravans for the transport of nearly 40,000 tonnes of goods to Mauritania, Senegal, Niger, Mali and Tunisia, Mr. Kini recalled.

Moreover in 2020, despite the exceptional health context due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the total cargo transported to these African countries amounts to 13,000 tonnes. Several caravans were also organized up to the kilometer point (0) as part of the regulatory measures put in place by the Ministry of Commerce to supervise exports via border crossings.

In addition, the LOGITRANS Group has opted in recent years for transport to the south of the country in order to revive commercial activities in gray areas and improve the living conditions of border wilayas, said the CEO. of the Group.

It also provides its services to large national companies such as the company “Naftal” for the transport of various types of fuel to the regions of the extreme south of the country (in this case Tamanrasset, In Guezzam, Tindouf, Bechar, Adrar, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Tin Zaouatine and Timiaouine), thanks to the mobilization of nearly 1,600 semi-trailers transporting nearly 2 billion liters of fuel annually.

Kini also stressed that the Group had made all its human and material resources available to the public authorities in the context of the health situation induced by Covid-19. Thus, requests from the Central Hospital Pharmacy and the Saidal Group were taken care of for the transport and distribution of various medical equipment and supplies at the national level.

Regarding measures related to the prevention of the Covid-19 pandemic, Mr. Kini insisted on taking all preventive measures to manage the health crisis, by reducing the number of Group employees by 50% and ensuring using the IT system to supervise the various activities of the Group, which enabled it to achieve 90% of its objectives set for the year 2020.

The Group would not have achieved these results without the great efforts made by workers and employees.

adds the CEO.

Referring to the future prospects of LOGITRANS, Mr. Kini indicated that the Group intends to restructure transport activities through the development of new specialized branches, in particular in conventional transport, specialized transport and oversized transport for difficult operations, stressing that this new structuring of the group aims to ensure better management of transport operations and logistics services.

The Group has launched, according to its first manager, work to revise the collective agreement, which will bring new benefits for workers, starting in January.
